Kamil Celebrates 10th Birthday Party!

Ch. Kamir de Pichera celebrated his 10th Birthday March 8th, 2003, at home, in Cranfills Gap, Texas. Dressed in his official party hat (for a short time) and a festive collar (all day) he greeted 23 guests from Mississippi, Louisiana and all parts of Texas.

Most important, Kamil wants to thank everyone for bringing all the great gifts. If you are thinking that he is sharing them with all the other Giants at his house—you are WRONG. All the gifts belong to him. The other dogs can have their own Birthday Parties—Thank you very much! Kamil’s honored guests included:

Leta Whittington who got the prize for driving the furthest—nine long hours—all the way from Jackson, Mississippi. She even brought a Giant batch of deviled eggs, which disappeared in record time.

Jane Chism from Allen, Texas definitely got the prize for bringing the most stuff—a huge basket of gifts for Kamil and two delicious Italian Cream Birthday Cakes for Kamil (he ate the first piece) and his honored guests. It was a huge disappointment but Kamil was NOT able to blow out his candles. However he had no trouble wolfing down the cake.

Katherine and Robert Arce from Arlington, Texas were there with their daughters Ravenne and Meighan. They left girl Giant Gypsy and boy Miniature Schnauzer Fritz at home to take care of their horses, Samba and Pepper.

Pat Gandy from Monroe, Louisiana arrived the earliest (the night before) to help decorate for the party. She also brought two darling Giant Puppies, which everyone enjoyed!

Holly Reed drove up from Lake Jackson, Texas. She, her husband Chris and Giants, Tasha, Woody, Otto, are recent Texas transplants. They made a job related move from Baton Rouge. The same job took them to Spain recently and they found time to visit the Pichera Kennel in Valencia. According to Holly the kennel is a Giant fanciers wonderland. Everything is tiled (except the dogs).

Carey Bradley from Dallas, Texas came with great bumper stickers from Schnauzer Ware for the other guests and a much needed Giants at Play sign for the kennel -- where lots of Giants play.

Rick and Kathy Heschke from Brownwood, Texas escorted one of the most beautiful girl guests, Jordan, who looked like a princess in her party hat (which she wore for a short while).

David and Laura Farris were there from Frisco, Texas. They are still in the looking stage for their first Giant Schnauzer puppy. We wish them well and predict that 20 years from now, their household will include Giants. I make that prediction because they are young, serious about the breed and most important they look very strong.

Blair Balthge from Austin, Texas and his girl Giant Schalka arrived with Schalka riding shotgun, in time for ice cream and cake. Schalka looked lovely in profile with her beard flowing in the wind.

Greg Reyna and Mark Hitchcock from Dallas missed the official birthday party altogether but managed to make up for it by staying on through Sunday. They also helped out by eating the leftovers—especially Jane’s Italian Cream Cake.

Jana Talley from Austin, Texas arrived with her new Giant Schnauzer Puppy Brighton’s Ready or Not, from Pat Gandy. Having recently lost 10 year-old Taylor, her first Giant Schnauzer, Jana was much in need of cheering up. The new puppy is doing just that.

Anne Fortier, Kamil’s grand mother from Cranfills Gap, saved the day by bringing chairs and other useful stuff to the party.

Anne West, also from the Gap, brought an enormous bowl of wonderful potato salad. Unfortunately the much requested recipe for the salad is not available because Anne doesn’t use one—too bad!

Jay and Enid Lagree from Meridian, Texas brought their girl Giant Wynona. Hugo was with them but had to remain in his vehicle since no boy Giants were invited to the party, per Kamil’s request. Wynona, wearing her official party hat and her Bavarian Princess collar, enjoyed the party but was distressed when the host refused to share his gifts.

All the guests want to thank Larry and Judi Payne for helping Kamil with the party arrangements: things like sending the invitations, shopping, cleaning, mowing, grilling (Larry did a great job with the hamburgers and hotdogs) and in general offering warm hospitality to one and all!

Special note to Judi and Larry—Kamil and his guests would like to celebrate again next year.
